general information about the Rainbow Flag
The Rainbow Flag is a multi-colored and consist nowadays of six different color horizontal tracks. Rainbow flag symbolazes world widely all gender and sexual minorities.

It can often seen also beeing used the so-called PACE flag, which is easy to mix a rainbow flag, but its significance is quite another. PACE flag was introduced in 1961 in a peace march organized by a pacifist, and philosopher Aldo Capitini. PACE flag has traditionally seven different colored stripes insted of six.

Rainbow flag is not the only symbol of sexual and gender minorities, but it is definitely the most famous. Rainbow flag was designed by artist Gilbert Baker in 1978. It was used first time in San Fransico Pride. Rainbow flag is sometimes called as the Flag of Freedom.

The Rainbow flag Baker designed actually had eight colors but two stripes have been left out from the flag version used today. Thise colors symbolized sex (pink) and spiriality / magic (turquoise).

The six excisting colors represent in the right order from top to bottom:

red = life
orange = healing
yellow = sunlight
green = nature
blue = harmony
purple /violet = spirit

Today, the Rainbow flag is commonly known symbol of queer people, and it is used freely in diverse contexts from Gay Friendly advertising to print products.
